Well, this is certainly a surprise. Back to the Dancefloor was supposed to be coming out this September, but it looks like they’ll be releasing this acoustic collection in its stead. The album will include acoustic versions of CJ’s most popular songs such as “Captain Jack,” “Drill Instructor,” and Only “You.” There will also be new tracks like “People Like to Party” and “Everything Started with Captain Jack.”

The album will be on sale at musicload and presumably at other online retailers as well. In the meantime, they’ve also released yet another greatest hits album titled, “Meine Besten.”

People Like to Party (Single)

The first single off Captain Jack’s new album just had a music video released:

Damn, I really, really like it. It’s got a great summery feel and sounds like it could have been on CJ’s Cafe Cubar album. If the rest of the album is anything like this then Beat Disaster may finally be forgiven for that horrid “Captain Jack Is Back” fiasco.

The song itself isn’t available for purchase just yet. Hopefully they’ll release a single later on with some remixes.

Bemanistyle has the song list for the Japanese arcade release of DDR X2, and there are quite a few surprises:

I wonder how likely we are to get a full version, considering that Konami rarely include licensed tracks on the soundtracks nowadays.

One of my favorite Dancemania Speed songs gets a trance makeover! Chris Bucknall, half of the duo known as CJ Crew, now runs Cubit Records, a new UK label that focuses on Pop and Dance. He’s decided to revisit one of his original works, “Another Way,” which originally appeared on Speed Giga 4 ~ Dancemania Speed Evolution. As far as I can tell the vocals are the same on this remake. The entire single (6 tracks in all) is available for only $2.49 at 7digital!

Unfortunately, there’s no Speed remix :{

That reminds me, I really should work on that CJ Crew feature…

Premier Euro ~ Best of Wa Euro Best

The official Dancemania website has been updated with information on Premier Euro. The track list has changed slightly since last time, with “Cat’s Eye” being expelled in favor of “Shiny Summer.” Also, “Friends” is now being listed as a “9LoveJ Premier Mix.”

The album comes with a lyrics booklet and a limited edition “premium gold jacket.”

I’m still holding out hope that Premier Euro will become a new series. The title is less limiting, which would hopefully mean Western-produced eurobeat in addition to the J-Euro.

Ray & Anita, formerly of 2 Unlimited, recently debuted a brand new song titled “Still Unlimited.” Watch it on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ca4AGHVBeNM. Much better than “In da Name of Love.” The 2 Unlimited reports that a single will be out in late August.

Various Smile.dk news to report. First and foremost, Smile.dk has lost another member as Hannah has decided to leave the group. Replacing her will be Cecilia Reiskog, pictured on the right. Veronica and Cecilia are still in the process of recording vocals for the album, and have revealed that “Golden Sky” will be one of the songs remade.

The official Smile.dk website has also been revamped.

Uggh, you’ve got to be kidding me. 7 songs from Wa Euro Best, 6 from WEB 2, 6 from WEB 3, and 4 “new” songs. The first Wa Euro Best was already full of repeats, and now we have to be subjected to them again? Even worse is the fact that this best-of album is more expensive than normal.

The new songs aren’t really too new, either. “Cat’s Eye” and “Hoshizora no Okurimono” could just be the original versions with different vocals. The only song I’m looking forward to is the new remix “Du-Du Di-Da.” It better not be just a re-edit of the Red Monster mix….

I guess Natsu Monogatari is officially dead, then.

LED are … back? This new LED compilation was recently released on iTunes and other download services. Many of these songs have been available for a while now, but the last track caught my eye. It’s titled “In Rain and Sunshine,” and the artist is listed as Deja Vu & Tasmin. At first I thought that they had licensed an Almighty track for this compilation. However, the song is clearly eurobeat, and doesn’t sound like Almighty’s Tasmin. Could this be a new production, or just something left over from years ago?

I’m loving pretty much all of the remixes. I was a little wary of the R&B Mix, but it turned out great (and I love the great use of the “Ooh la la la” samples during the final instance of the chorus). The United Forces E-Mix is a little busy at times, but otherwise quite full of awesomeness.
