Speaking of Trance Rave, DJ Kenny recently released a reworked version of his debut song, “Blue Force,” which originally appeared on Trance Rave Best 18. It’s unfortunate they didn’t get him and other Trance Rave artists to do new songs for Trance Rave Best 21. 🙁

Victor seems intent on resurrecting a lot of their series lately, as the last Trance Rave Best came out almost 9 months ago with the release of Trance Rave Best 20. I kind of assumed they ended it since 20 would’ve been a nice number to go out on, but TRB is back with a collection of covers. Unfortunately, most of these covers are quite old and definitely overplayed.

The track list is pretty much all repeats. It would’ve been nice to see a few new tracks, but I can’t deny that the selection is a good approximation of the best of Trance Rave. Any guesses on what the lead track is?

The CD was originally listed as “Club atom Vol. 5,” but the title has since been changed. This is actually a rather surprising release since Vol. 4 was released way back in 2007. I wonder what would prompt Victor to release another CD in the series after such a long hiatus? CDJapan’s description suggests that the CD will include not only trance, but house as well.

Delayed a week from its original December 16 release date. Although the CD is mostly composed of repeats from Quake Trance, there are a few new tracks by established epic trance producers. Expect new tracks from DJ Tora, DJ Ozawa, DJ Kenny, and Overhead Champion, among others.

Originally scheduled for release on August 26, this special CD commemorating the 10th anniversary of men’s egg magazine will finally be released on September 30. The early track list was pretty much all psychedelic trance, but the final list is mostly repeats from the Trance Rave Best series as well as licenses from Exit Trance.

Mostly Quake repeats. In fact, track 7 already appeared on TRB 17!
That said, Victor made good on their promise to include original tracks from Japanese DJs. We’ve got a new, original Delaction track as well a new track from Los Hermanos. The previously unknown DJ Kenny also makes his TRB debut.
Really good stuff. I hope we get to hear more from DJ Kenny in the future.

Trance Rave Best used to have exclusive tracks, but lately they’ve been full of nothing but Quake repeats. Supposedly this latest volume will include original songs from Japanese DJs. I’ll believe it when I see it, though. Scheduled artists include Cascada and Infected Mushroom, while DJ Kaya will once again be mixing.

Well, I called it. “Caramelldansen” infects yet another trance compilation. It was kinda funny at first, but now it’s just getting ridiculous. At least they refrained from using “Sousei no Aquarion,” though that’s probably because it already appeared on Trance Rave Best XVI.
Anyway, TRB 17 comprises mostly Quake Trance Best tracks of the last year, though in some cases they reached as far back as 2005. Also included are some tracks from Quake’s various Exit Trance series.
