Around 40 Eurobeat – Digital Downloads

R40 EuroAround 40 Eurobeat -Download Selection-
Release Date: 8/12/09
Price: 1200-2700 yen

Wa Euro Best isn’t the only recent EMI release to receive the digital treatment. Around 40 Eurobeat also has a selection of tracks up for download. Once again, iTunes or Musico are pretty much the only choices for those outside of Japan.

Interestingly, Around 40 Eurobeat has been selling very well, with almost 20,000 copies sold after four weeks of release. And much like Wa Euro Best, it’s actually been selling more copies each week it’s out. Could Eurobeat be on the verge of a comeback?

Hmm, I was under the impression that oldies compilations always do pretty decent in sales. I mean, why else would they release the same songs over and over and over again. Those R35 compilations didn’t do half bad from my understanding.

Well, I guess we’ll see how avex’s around 40 compilation does which surprisingly has a few songs that don’t seem to be repeated over and over again.

Oh and of course those Shibuya and Roppongi compilations too.

I went ahead and checked, and apparently Disco R35 went gold with over 100,000 copies sold. O_O R40 Eurobeat won’t come anywhere close to that, but 20k seems like the new threshold for success anyway.

Interestingly, the last time Avex revived their Disco 80’s series was a few months after Disco 35 came out, with the release of Disco 80’s ~R30 Euro Special~. It didn’t sell too well, though, so I wonder how their latest attempt to jump on the bandwagon will pan out.

Wow, that a lot of sales! Though I think out of the 3 R35 releases I’m pretty sure the Jpop one sold the most (I have all three of the hahaha)

Hehe, I bought that avex R30 release. I think I only listen through it once XP
