Dance Dance Revolution 2nd MIX Original Soundtrack Deluxe Edition presented by Dancemania
Release Date: 11/9/11 ? 11/30/11
Price: 3619 yen (2 CD+DVD Version) or 3048 yen (2 CD Only Version)

Update (12/20/11): The entire OST, including bonus tracks and non-stop mix, is now available on iTunes Japan. It’s 150 yen per track or 2,400 yen for the whole album.

Wow, when they said Deluxe Edition they really meant it. The CD+DVD edition comes with a special “holographic sticker jacket,” which is basically the same effect that was on the Hime Trance covers.
Quite surprisingly, the booklet is in full color and looks just like the original with added liner notes for the bonus tracks and DVD. Yes, that means that the booklet has the original cover art o_O

I’m a bit disappointed by the DJ Boss remix of “Keep On Movin’.” I guess since he’s usually involved with eurobeat productions I expected something other than an electro pop remix. As it is, the remix is nice electro fluff, albeit far too short.

“Put Your Faith in Me” has an awesome bassline that’s very reminiscent of “Another One Bites the Dust.” In fact, it even has hand claps, so I’m convinced Dirty Androids used it for inspiration. Fantastic stuff for nu disco fans.

xac’s remix of “Trip Machine” gets rid of most of the vocal samples for some reason. :/

DJ Command, I love you and want to have your babies even though it’s not physically possible seeing as I’m a dude. The AKBK remix of “Brilliant 2U” is, for lack of a better word, brilliant. It hits all of the right notes yet manages to remain fresh. It’s just waaay too short. There’s still about 10 minutes left of space left on Disc 1, so it’s a wonder why they didn’t have more extended edits of the remixes.

The booklet confirms that kors k is behind the “Paranoia” remix, and while he’s usually hit or miss for me this one’s definitely a solid hit. Unlike the new version of “Trip Machine,” this one retains most of the samples, and kors k does a great job at maintaining the usual manic feel of a Paranoia song.

The new arrangement of “Love Is the Power” hews very closely to the original, though it has better instrumentation and new vocals.

The OST is out, and EMI have released a special preview video. There’s a bit of footage from the DVD interviews and special performances by Zio. You can also hear a bit of the new “Keep On Movin'” remix. And hooray for Bus Stop geting some love after being left off Dancemania Sparkle!

Boom Boom Dollar, Butterly and Brilliant 2U are freestyle videos from a guy named Zio. The DVD it self is almost an hour long.

  2. DanceMaster Says:

Wow, those are some pretty lengthy interviews then o_O
