This is certainly a nice surprise! The first Anime*Max came out last April and featured Eurobeat/Hyper Techno covers of anime themes. It was produced by Ventura Music, who used to be a huge contributor to the Dancemania series. Anime*Max wasn’t quite as strong as some of Ventura’s other anime-related works (Anime*Mania, Techno Pop Anime), but it was a solid enough release. Plus, it brought us the epic hyper techno cover of “Gravity,” which would later go on to be included on Natasu Monogatari 2009. The CD didn’t make too much of an impact in terms of sales, so I always assumed it would just be a one-shot affair. Apparently it did well enough for Geneon, however, because they’ll be releasing a sequel in January.

It’s not yet clear if Ventura will be returning to produce, but Geneon will be auditioning for new vocalists.

Anime Nitro ANiRe:MATiON EGGs

Ghibli in the Mix

A Ghibli compilation combining tracks from Ghibli Speed and The Best of Jazzin’ for Ghibli. This one’s notable for the inclusion of vocalist Sumi Shimamoto, who played the lead role in Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind. She’ll be singing five of the songs. Ironically, none of them will be from Nausicaä.

Anime House Project ~Sengoku Bakumatsu Mix~

Ghibli in the Mix

Yup, it’s another Ghibli CD from FARM. This one’s notable for the inclusion of vocalist Sumi Shimamoto, who actually played the lead role in Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind. She’ll be singing on at least four of the songs.

The songs will be produced by a who’s who of Japanese house artists. Daishi Dance, Piano Master, and The Standard Club are just some of the big names that will appear on this special release.

Exit Trance presents Speed Anime Trance Complete Best 2

It’s a little strange that Quake are releasing this so soon after the first Complete Best. After all, the first one had 5 albums worth of songs to choose from, but there have been only 3 releases in the main series since then. Then again, I suppose it’s possible that they’ll also include songs from Ecstasy, Movie, bitter, and BL. One of the best things about Complete Best 1 was that it had new remixes of many of the included tracks. Let’s hope the same thing happens on this release.

As with the first Complete Best, the sequel comes in two flavors. The limited edition comes with a figure and is limited to only 12,000 copies. With only a ~200 yen difference between the two editions, you might as well go for the one with the figure. For those wondering, the figure will be of Aria, one of the girls on the cover of the first Speed Anime Trance.
