Utattemita J-Pop Speed
Release Date: 7/4/12
Price: 1905 yen

This has 11 songs in common with the original Utattemita J-Pop, so I’m thinking it’s less likely that they’ll be straight repeats. In fact, “Return to Myself” was originally done by Sumijun, but here’s it’s listed as a Beat Charger production.

Edit: Apparently it was just a typo, as AKBK’s official site still lists “Return to Myself” as a Sumijun production.

Utattemita Anison Speed
Release Date: 7/4/12
Price: 1905 yen

Final list has been released, and it’s still not clear if we’ll be getting new arrangements. “Discotheque,” one of my favorite AKBK productions, does get a resing by Shihori, but the listed artists and arrangers are same as before for everything else. There are even 3 repeats from the regular Utattemita Anison. I’m even more worried that this will be nothing but repeats yet again.

Mega Dance Climax
Release Date: 7/25/12
Price: 1886 yen

Dancemania × Dance Panic!?! Full Moon’s new series will feature dance pop hits of the 80s and 90s including lots of Dancemania and Dance Panic! classics like “Dub-I-Dub,” “Samba de Janeiro,” “Can’t Take My Eyes Off You,” “Call Me Mañana,” and more! Right now I get the feeling that they’ll just be licensing the tracks from EMI and Victor, but I would love AKBK forever if they actually did eurobeat remixes. I guess another possibility is that they’ll be licensing covers from Saifam. In any case, it’ll be interesting to see how the series develops in the future.

Don Gino – EP
Artist: Disco Gino
Price: $3.96

The latest track from J-Mi and Midi-D is a sequel to “Disco Gino” which, oddly enough, hasn’t seen a single release outside of the Disko Warp remix. I was afraid that the Disco Gino gimmick would wear thin, but exploiting a different Italian stereotype this time was a good call. The J-Mi & Midi-D remix in particular is highly recommended. That said, the best Pizza-related song still goes to “Kochira Mona Pizza.”

And I know it’s supposed to be a mafioso hat on the cover, but I keep seeing either an elf or an orc. o_O

Utattemita Anison Speed
Release Date: 7/4/12
Price: 1905 yen

Okay, now I’m convinced that Akiba Koubou have to rearrange these tracks. “Tiger & Dragon,” for example, was originally 136 BPM on Geki Atsu! Drama Euro Kizuna Hen, so there’s no way they can just transplant it as is. Pleeaaaasseee don’t disappoint me again, AKBK.

Utattemita Anison Speed
Release Date: 7/4/12
Price: 1905 yen

Early list is out, and so far it’s all songs that have previously been covered by Akiba Koubou. If this ends up the same as J-Mach!! I’ll be extremely disappointed. I’m convinced that they’ll have to actually rearrange these, though, because many of the songs already appeared on the original Utattemita Anison, and there’s no way they’d just reuse the same arrangements again, right? Right?!

Non Stop Mega Mix Party -Maximum-
Release Date: 4/25/12
Price: 1886 yen

Third release of the FARM series, featuring house, electro, and trance remixes of pop hits. Includes the album debuts of Daiki × ZK’s “Born This Way” and “Party Rock Anthem” covers. Daiki × ZK also get the lead track with a new version of Mr. Saxobeat.

Mega Trance’s DJ U*Hey? is back with quite a few new tracks under his main alias as well as other pseudonyms. As DJ U*Hey? he brings us a cover of Madonna’s “Give Me All Your Luvin'” He uses his Threemason alias for “Hangover,” “Titanium, and “Part of Me.” Keen readers will remember that “Titanium” was already done under his DJ U*Hey? persona a few months ago, so who knows if the Threemason version is actually new.

Soichi Ono, perhaps best known as Minimum Cox, returns with a new remix of “The Edge of Glory” as well as a new cover of “Mr. Know It All” under his main alias. He also uses his “Jewel” alias for a new production of “Good Feeling.”

I.T.T. gets a single new track with “International Love” while i-steal gets a remix of “I Will Always Love You.”

There are also quite a few new artists. Beatek, Ginger Parker, and electrowarden appear to be new to FARM, though it’s unclear if they’re actually new or just more aliases for existing artists. In any case, this release is one to look out for if you’re a fan of R&B House.

Utattemita Anison Speed
Release Date: 7/4/12
Price: 1905 yen

The other new Utattemita release will feature high-speed versions of J-Pop classics. Unfortunately, AKBK’s similarly themed J-Mach!! -Hi-Speed Dance Mix- is almost certain to become a source of tracks for this release. Please prove me wrong, EMI.

Utattemita Anison Speed
Release Date: 7/4/12
Price: 1905 yen

Dancemania Speed…lives? This July will see the continuation of the Utattemita series with two new Akiba Koubou-produced CDs. This one will feature high-speed versions of Anison themes. You may remember that AKBK have their own Speed release coming up, J-Mach!! -Hi-Speed Dance Mix-, but that release has very few anime songs so I’m hopeful that EMI will commission lots of new remixes for this.

The first two Utattamita releases from EMI weren’t branded as Dancemania releases, but I’m hoping they retroactively add them and these two new releases to the series. It’d just be nice to say there’s a new Dancemania Speed release after 5 years.

Dancehall Lovers J-Covers
Release Date: 4/25/12
Price: 2171 yen

New release in the long-running Dancehall compilation series. This one is notable for jumping on the J-Pop cover bandwagon. Yes, that’s right, if you’ve ever been jonesing for a reggae version of “Zankoku na Tenshi no These,” this is the album for you. To further increase the novelty, it also appears that all of the songs have been translated into English. They used Bentley Jones’s existing English version for “Sunao ni Naretara” but the rest sound like almost direct translations, which results in some awkward lyrics.
