Anime*Max

This CD comes as a somewhat of a surprise, as it’s being released by Geneon Entertainment, who haven’t released a eurobeat CD in quite some time. It was originally titled “TechPara Anime!” but the title was recently changed to “Anime*Max” to meet the strict requirement that all anime-themed CDs have a star symbol in their titles.
I have a funny feeling that this will be produced by Ventura music, who were also responsible for last year’s Anime*Mania. That’s purely conjecture, of course, but I don’t know anyone else who could do it.
All I need to know is that it has “Naraku no Hana.” Sold!
Love ParaPara ~ Eurobeat Hits 30!

It’s baaack! VIP Mega Euro Star ~Hybrid~ sold very well for FARM late last year and ended up charting on Oricon’s Indies chart for over a month. It should come as no surprise, then, that FARM have finally decided to resurrect the Love Para series after a year-long hiatus.
The word “hits” brings to mind repeats, and sure enough there are plenty of repeats to be found, primarily from VIP Hybrid. Still, there are a considerable number of new tracks from the likes of Blast and Dima.
Unlike previous entries in the Love Para series, Eurobeat Hits 30! will be a CD only affair. It’s billed as a low-cost release, but at 2381 yen it’s only marginally cheaper than the CD+DVD releases. :/ Star Fire are involved in the production of the CD, however, so expect ParaPara routines for a number of the tracks. I’m willing to bet that FARM will release another Love Para later this year with repeats from Eurobeat Hits 30! and a DVD of the routines.

Buchiage Parance #9

The 9th release in Victor’s ongoing Buchiage Trance/Parance series. Not too many details yet, though hopefully Victor are out of old Euro Panic! songs to repeat.

Super Anime Remix Vol. 2

The sequel to Super Anime Remix includes 100% new material, a rare feat these days. Of course, a lot of the songs featured have been covered endlessly before, but at least they didn’t cover “Sousei no Aquarion” a third time.
As with the first SAR, disc 1 will be a non-stop mix. However, most retailers are reporting that disc 2 will have karaoke versions instead of full-length vocal versions.
Super Anime Remix Vol. 2

Man, they’re really churning these out, aren’t they? The sequel to Super Anime Remix Vol. 1 once again features a 2-disc set of eurobeat anime covers. Many of the artists are still undecided, but it’s nice to see new material from Shihori, who is perhaps Akiba Koubou’s best vocalist.
Super Anime Remix Touge
Release Date: 12/24/08

I originally said this was the sequel to Super Anime Remix Vol. 1, but it turns out that it’s just an interim sub-release before the real Vol. 2 (more on that tomorrow). “Touge” in this context seems to refer to touge racing, so the album is basically a way to capitalize off Initial D’s success.
The track list mostly comprises new songs, though I spot a couple of repeats.
Koakuma Magic

Koakuma Magic is essentially Euro Panic! Best. There are tons of repeats from Victor’s old Euro Panic! series, though there are also a handful of new J-Euro tracks. Oh, and “Sousei no Aquarion” makes it 57th appearance on a dance compilation this year.
The CD+DVD version includes a DVD of Para Para routines.
Koakuma Magic

Okay, so technically I blogged about this before. However, a lot of the details about this release have changed. The release has been delayed from its original intended release date and is now titled Koakuma Magic instead of Koakuma Princess. This was originally going to be available only as a CD+DVD set, but it looks like Victor will be releasing a CD only version about a month after the CD+DVD set.
Scheduled to appear are Ichidai, Laurie, Little Barby, Mister Max, Love Boom, Blue Roses, Mark Farina. In other words, a plethora of eurobeat repeats. It’s really quite amazing that Victor are still reusing Euro Panic! material after 7 years.

VIP Mega Euro Star ~Hybrid~

I previously posted the track list here, but the artists have since been revealed. It turns out that most, if not all, of this compilation is produced by Ventura Music (and yes, Kei is the same Kei from Hime Trance and Buchiage Trance). It’s been a while since we’ve heard Ventura produce pure eurobeat, with most of their recent efforts being speed-style songs. Unfortunately, no one seems to be offering samples, so I don’t know if this compilation is actually any good.

Oh, joy, both “Caramelldansen” and “Sousei no Aquarion.” We certainly haven’t heard those two enough this year! And as a bonus, there’s also “One Million Miles,’ which has only shown up a few dozen times on other compilations.
If all those Quake repeats weren’t enough, there are also quite a few repeats from Victor’s old eurobeat series, Euro Panic!, which was last seen in 2001. I really can’t believe that Victor are so cheap that they can’t bother licensing newer eurobeat from Saifam.
Ah well, there are at least a few new songs on this, including Kei’s cover of “Tamashii no Refrain.”
Super Anime Remix Vol. 1 ~A New Euro Remix~

The final track list has been revealed, and it’s slightly different than the tentative one posted earlier. If you were a fan of the J-euro songs from the beginning of Natsu Monogatari then you’re sure to love this as well. At 2286 yen for two discs it’s a steal, and certainly much less costly than purchasing the tracks direct from Digital Koubou.
