Lucky Princess’s follow-up to her debut single, “Deadbeat Boyfriend.” TMTM is a hyper techno tune about the dangers of over-texting. I wasn’t overly fond of Disko Warp’s previous attempt at hyper techno on Speedisko 2, but this does a really good job of capturing the sound. Make sure to check out the music video, a nod to all sorts of early 90s atrocities:
The video edit can be found on iTunes, but you can get additional bonus tracks by buying the single at Bandcamp.
Another collection of Disko Warp’s best songs, including some of the most popular remixes. The album is available in a variety of file formats at Bandcamp for 10 bucks. Strangely, it doesn’t seem to be up at Amazon, but you can buy it from iTunes for $9.90 if you’re looking for a slightly cheaper alternative.

After a lengthy hiatus, Fright Ranger return with “Werewolf Boyfriend,” a worthy follow-up to their massive hit, “Oh Oh Oh Sexy Vampire.” You can grab the song from iTunes for only 99 cents. For $2.50 you can get the main mix plus an additional two versions at Bandcamp. It’s quite a catchy song, full of typical Disko Warp humor. I’m looking forward to a remix EP. 😉
Good news, everyone! Disko Warp’s Speedisko Vol. 1 & 2 are now available on the digital download service, Bandcamp! For only $6 each you can grab the albums in the format of your choice, including FLAC. Speaking of Speedisko, the third volume was supposed to have been released in September, but obviously it’s been delayed.
In order to celebrate Disko Warp’s Bandcamp debut, they’re releasing a new remix of Foxxie’s “Don’t Don’t Go Away” for FREE! Grab it here:
Initial P’s first solo single is a cover of Smile.dk’s legendary “Butterfly.” The single is now up for sale on iTunes for $7.92. Unfortunately, it’s available only in the US. For more info and samples, visit Disko Warp’s official site or YouTube page.
Hot on the heels of Speedisko 2 comes a brand new single from Disko Warp featuring a cover of Smile.dk’s legendary “Butterfly.” With fantastic vocals and a bevy of remixes, it’s definitely one of DW’s best releases yet. The single is now up for sale on iTunes for $7.92.
I’ll post a review shortly, but for now check out my favorite remix on the single:
Disko Warp presents Speedisko Vol. 3
Release Date: September 2010
Price: ???
The third volume in the Speedisko series will see a release later this September and will include another 8 Disko Warp hits. I’m personally looking forward to “I Wanna Be A Ninja (Ricardo Autobahn Remix).” I very much enjoyed the original, and Ricardo Autobahn can only increase the level of win.
Speedisko Vol. 2 finally sees a release after a short delay. The album is now up for sale on iTunes and Amazon for $7.92.
“I Wanna Be a Ninja” is the lead track and happens to be one of my favorites on the album. I could do without the sped-up vocals, but I love the use of Japanese instruments and the lyrics are undeniably catchy. Who doesn’t want to be a ninja?!
Another standout song, and perhaps my favorite on the album, is “Space Space Shooter,” a eurobeat track with lots of 8-bit samples. Space Invaders is an obvious inspiration and after listening to this I’m suddenly finding myself in the mood for some alien-blasting action.
Speaking of video games, Thomas H. Lichtenstein of DDR fame also makes an appearance on the album with “Keep It Real.” The song tries to imitate the Hyper Techno sound, but falls a little short. The synths are certainly there, but it lacks the energy of a true hyper techno song, particularly during the verses. I’d love to hear it with a different, more fitting remix.
Chris Jay, who previously did an awesome 80s PWL mix of “Oh Oh Sexy Vampire,” returns for Speedisko 2 with another retro-inspired track. This time, it’s a 90s eurodance remix of Peroxide Mocha’s “Don’t Have My Baby.” The vocalist is great on the song, and sings the hysterical lyrics without a hint of irony.
Disko Warp recently provided some songs for Andamiro’s Pump It Up Pro 2 arcade game and released an accompanying digital soundtrack. If you’ve been following Disko Warp for a while then most of these songs aren’t new to you. However, there are a couple of new bonus remixes included. The soundtrack is up for sale on Amazon and iTunes. It’s slightly cheaper on Amazon ($8.99 versus $9.90 on iTunes).
Disko Warp presents Anime Love Hardcore
Release Date: 4/5/10
Price: TBA
FRECKLES! Pretty solid selection of anime tracks, and the samples up on YouTube sound pretty good. The CD will be available at Sakuracon this weekend. Otherwise, you’ll have to wait until April 5 to order the CD from the official Disko Warp website. The iTunes release will come even later, in May. Unfortunately, the iTunes release will be limited to the US only.
On a related note, Speedisko Vol. 2 was supposed to have been released in March, but it looks like it’s been pushed back to a later date.
Update! The title has been changed to Disko Warp presents Anime Love Hardcore.
Disko Warp will be releasing a collection of high-speed anime covers this April. The only confirmed track so far is “Zankoku na Tenshi no These.” Thankfully, Pete has also promised that neither “Sousei” nor “Ponyo” will appear, so at least we’ll be spared from those again. There’ll be 10 songs in all, and the album will be available in both CD form and as a digital release.
Update!Originally scheduled for March, but it looks like it’s release has been delayed April or later.
Second release in the Speedisko series from Disko Warp records. Vol. 2 will be another digital release and will come out this March. Five tracks have been confirmed so far, though there’s no word on how many tracks will be included in all.
The long-delayed Speedisko Vol. 1 finally makes it debut. If I remember correctly there was supposed to be a cover of “Never Gonna Give You Up,” but it looks like it didn’t make it.
Anyway, Speedisko Vol. 1 is supposed to be the first in a series of Disko Warp compilations. One of the highlights of this first volume is an excellent, new Cusimo & Co. Speedy mix of “Lolitabot.” I was lukewarm to the original speedy mix, but this remix is absolutely perfect. The incredible Ricardo Autobahn remix of “Sexy Vampire” also makes an appearance, albeit in radio edit form.
There’s supposed to be a collaboration with Magic Hammer, which I assume is track 2 since it’s the only eurobeat song on the album. I wish the vocals were a little clearer, but the synthwork is top notch. I’m also quite partial to “UFO Catcher,” a catchy new instrumental song by Initial P.
